Miami Herald - January 2001
Kansas has a dark scene, everyone always thinks of farms, and The Wizard of Oz, but in its dark heartlands, the children of the night seek out each other and dream of the storm that will take them to other worlds..Carlos SAinT germAiN was once at the crossroads and he had to decide which direction he would follow, to find his place in the world of the nightbreed. Most, would have chosen the decay and ruin of the poisin apple or the masquerades of the city of angels. But after visiting these places, he decided to head south, into the uncharted realms of Miami's subculture where he and others helped create a place where the nightbreed could gather and dance and "Of course" feed their hunger. A place called "The Kitchen Club"It was there that he helped bring in underground bands that normally would have passed north of the area, to nurture the growing Miami-scene in the mid 90's all the while sharpening his art at spinning the sounds and songs of the darkwave scenes to the point where the madness on the dance floor was akin to the feeding frenzy of bloodthirsty animalsBands such as The Wake, Switchblade Symphany, Das Ich, Faith and the Muse, all played the Miami area during SAinT germAiN's tenure as gothic promoter, and when Apocalypse Theatre was added to the list of bands to play Miami, a friendship eventually brought him to the highway as a living sampler playing shows with the band and guest spotting in several cities coast to coast. In the past D.J. SAinT germAiN has spun at notable venues such as Bound in Wash.Dc, The Angel, The Convent and The Crystal in New Orleans, Ashes in Kansas City, and many other events nationwide including Convergence, GothCon 2000, The Anne Rice Vampire Ball in New Orleans, etc...
